National estimates indicate that one in four women have or will experience violence in one or more of her adult relationships.  It is also known that domestic violence against men is under-reported.  This workshop meets the Florida Department of Health's Domestic Violence continuing education requirement for all licensed providers and exceeds the requirement by its relevancy to areas of clinical social work and mental health practice.

This 8-hour Laws and Rules course is required for licensure appplicants for Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy or Mental Health Counselor.  All Registered Interns need this course before licensure.  We recommend that you take this course soon after becoming a Registered Intern due to the increase in complaints against Registered Interns to the Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Mental Health Counselors.

This course has been developed to specifically meet the needs and interests of mental health professionals while remaining valid for other approved medical professionals. Participants will engage in a dialogue about the applicability of root cause analysis, error prevention and client/patient safety in a variety of clinical social work and mental health practice settings.  

This continuing education course satisfies the requirements imposed by the 2001 Florida State Legislature mandating a 2-hour continuing education course related to the prevention of medical errors as part of the licensure and renewal process for all health and mental health professionals.  The course is also approved for social workers in Alabama and Illinois and many other health professionals in Illinois.
